"Fanfiction: From the Seriously Absurd to the Absurdly Serious" is the first full-length LP by lo-fi indie rock band Shorthand Phonetics. It was released on the internet in April of 2006. This LP was exclusively recorded into a webcam mic to a NEC Versa E680 with Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 software sporadically between the two Februaries that exist between 2005 and 2006 .

"Fanfiction" is a fifty-six minute concept album about displacing the teenage angst of the currently unnamed narrator toward existing literary, animated, pre-existing and/or original characters in a pre-existing fandom. The fifteen tracks of "Fanfiction" should be regarded as little ficlets from the cookie jar of fleeting inspiration. This album should be taken as the literary equivalent of a collection of short stories rather than a continuing narrative. Then after this concept has seeped into the listeners mind, the listener must imagine this album as a cast recording of the theatrical revue of the collection of short stories.

The fifteen tracks in order of coherence are...

01. "Curtains Up: Introduction to Fanfiction",
02. "All Too Platonic",
03. "Surreal Situation for Sarah-Jean",
04. "Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out.",
05. "Everybody Knows Every Romance Needs an Astronomy Tower",
06. "Intermission One: One Would Think That She Is An Impossible Weeyoch But Don't Take One's Word For It For One Can Be Extremely Biased (Talk About Your Double Euphemisms)",
07. "Requiem for Our Last Character Building Camp and Future Ones You Are Required to Attend",
08. "Real Equivalent of Shampoo (Sugar Maliciously Codes for You)",
09. "Green Apple Garden",
10. "The Good That Is Kathleen Cannot Cancel Out the Evil That Is Heather Because Kathleen Is Now and Will Forever Be of Null Value",
11. "Intermission Two: A Brief Excurcion to Frigid and Warm Hopelandia to See the Victory Roses (A Good Beginning > () > Thanks > Hope)",
12. "...This One Goes Out to the Sweet and Naive",
13. "Natalies for Glasses (When You Go About Things With An Adamant Sense of Inferiority)",
14. "Lady Hermione's Library is On Fire because of the Burning Minds Sparking Each Other to Ignite and It's Consuming My Flammable Ashen Heart", and
15. "Curtains Down: Graduation from Fanfiction"

The listener is also invited to point out references, be it musical or lyrical, while lsitening to the album. If you spot a reference and you feel very strongly towards it being a reference, it probably is.

To enhance the "Fanfiction" experiance, a program of sorts is provided. Just download the digital booklet and you automatically have the official sleeve and lyric booklet of the LP.

And most importantly...have fun listening to it! :)
